2 others die from COVID-19; death toll now at 243

Guyana has recorded two more deaths from the new coronavirus, taking the total number of deaths from the pandemic now to 243.

According to the Ministry of Health, these latest deaths are two men, one 73-year-old man from Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne) and another 62-year-old from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica).

Both died Saturday while being cared for in medical facilities.

The MOH sincerely sympathizes with the families of the two deceased and will make every effort to provide all the necessary support during this difficult time to provide any assistance needed.

The Ministry is also appealing to the public to respect the confidentiality of both
deceased and their families and to allow them to mourn their tragic loss in peace.

All Guyanese are reminded to observe COVID-19 EMERGENCY protocols
MEASURES (NO.16), in force until April 30, 2021. This order emphasizes: the need to use a face mask correctly and consistently when leaving your home; the importance of maintaining the physical distance six feet from others; and the need for good hand hygiene to help reduce, among other things, the spread of COVID-19.
