35 of 65 new COVID-19 cases recorded in Region Five – Guyana Newsroom

Thirty-five of the 65 new COVID-19 cases recorded Tuesday are from Region Five (Mahaica-Berbice). The new cases come from 391 tests, taking the country’s overall number of confirmed cases to 6, 653.

Health Minister Dr Frank Anthony revealed earlier Tuesday that the native Moraikobai village in Region Five is now seeing a spike in cases.

Meanwhile, the other cases were recorded in Region Four with 21 new cases, Region Three recorded two new cases, Region Six one new case, Region Seven recorded four new cases and Region Ten two new cases.

There are 378 unaccompanied patients at home, 55 patients are institutionalized and three patients are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Disease Hospital.

An additional 34 people who came into contact with positive patients are in institutional quarantine. To date, 6, 047 people have recovered and 170 have died.
