40 more people are testing positive for COVID-19

Another 40 people have tested positive for the new coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

This is according to the COVID-19 Dashboard updated by the Ministry of Health for today.

The total confirmed cases in Guyana are now 10,580, of which only 1,161 are currently active. These include 12 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and the remaining 1,149 other people institutionally and at home.

In addition, there are 10 people in institutional quarantine.

Guyana’s COVID-19 death toll spiked within the last 24 hours after six people died of the virus on Saturday. A total of 243 people have now died from this pandemic.

By contrast, around 9,250 people have recovered from the life-threatening disease in the country to date.
