A teacher who lost a house to a fire is being supported by Edu. ministry – Guyana Newsroom

A fire that destroyed the home of a primary school teacher, Renita Joseph, and her family, received help from the Ministry of Education.

The Chief Education Officer, Dr Marcel Huston, visited Joseph and her family and presented a package containing an HP Laptop, accessories, and financial aid.

Joseph’s Good Intent house, West Bank Demerara (WBD) was destroyed by fire of unknown origin in the early hours of Thursday; she, her husband, and two young children – aged 10 and three – barely made it out of the house alive.

Dr. Huston, who offered words of comfort and encouragement to the teacher, said that the ministry cares about their teachers and will continue to stand by them.

He added that Friday’s contribution was a testament to how the ministry sees and values their teachers and could not have heard of the tragedy and turned a deaf ear.

Joseph and her husband expressed their gratitude for the gesture, especially as she was a final year University of Guyana student, and having a new laptop now would help her complete her studies and continue to teach her students.
