Berbice motorcyclist hospitalized after collision with a car

A 26-year-old man from NUmber Village 73, Corentyne, is now in hospital after losing control of his bicycle and colliding with a hire car on Springlands Public Road, Berbice.

The accident happened sometime around 22: 05h on Friday.

The driver of the hire car, 33, told police he was moving south along the eastbound lane at normal speed when he turned on his left indicator and was in the process of stopping his vehicle to pick up a passenger on the eastbound footpath. But in doing so, he said the motorcyclist who was advancing in the back of the hire car was at a high speed and in the process of overtaking when he lost control of the bike and collided to the right rear side of the car. .

As a result of the collision, the motorcyclist collapsed on the road surface resulting in injuries to his body. He was picked up in a conscious state by public-spirited citizens and transported to Skeldon Public Hospital, where he was admitted for observation at the A&E unit suffering from head injuries and bruises to his body.

Meanwhile, the driver of the 33-year-old car, a resident of First Street, No. 79 Village, Corriverton, Corentyne, was arrested and taken into custody to assist with the investigation.

Both vehicles were delivered as the investigation continued.
