A motorcyclist has now died after riding into a cow Saturday night on the Crabwood Creek Public Road, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne).
Dead is Akram Hack, age 22, construction worker of Lot 38 Grant 7879, Crabwood Creek, Corentyne.
According to Police reports, Hack was proceeding on the Crabwood Creek Public Road when he was in a collision with a cow and as a result, he fell to the road surface and received injuries to his body.
He was picked up in an unconscious state by the Police and taken to Skeldon Public Hospital, where he was seen and treated by a doctor. However, due to the serious nature of his injuries, the construction worker was later transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital. He died, however, on his way to that medical facility. He was pronounced dead around 01: 50h on Sunday.
Apparently reports that Hack was imbibing with two friends at a bar at CWC when he left saying he was going home for an item.
Munishwar Maniram called “Shatta,” told this publication that they were all at a bar and Hack asked for the key of his motorcycle, telling them he was going home to pick up an item.
“He picks up the key and gets away with the motorcycle. About 30 minutes we didn’t see him coming back so we called his phone then we hear he was in an accident and so we went to the hospital, ”said Maniram. He said they had rushed over to the hospital and were told Hack was unconscious.
Meanwhile, his 48-year-old mother, Fazeena Ally, said she was at home when she received a phone call indicating her son had been injured after riding into a cow and transported by Police to hospital.
“He left and went wide of his friend of mine by bar de rum,” the grieving mother told this publication.
Like her 53-year-old husband, the grieving mother has suffered a stroke and both cannot walk unaided. The mother of six explained that one of her sons is currently in prison, two have migrated and now Akram is dead.
He referred to Hack as being very comforting to both his parents as they relied heavily on him for physical help around the house.
“What would become of my life now? I’m pickney dead, ”cried the grieving mother. Hack’s father said cattle owners in the community are reluctant to take their animals to the ranch in the hinterland because they are required to pay for the facility.
Meanwhile, Hack’s body is currently at Ramo Funeral Home awaiting post-mortem examination. The cow, which suffered a broken leg, has since been rounded up by the Police. (G4)
