Boy, 8, hospitalized after being hit by a motorcycle

An eight-year-old boy is now in hospital and nursing a broken leg, after being struck down Monday by a speeding motorcycle on the Henrietta Access Road, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam).

Divisional Commander Crystal Robinson confirmed the accident involved a motorcycle, a CK7763 driven by a 24-year-old from Queenstown, Essequibo Coast and Jeremiah Nelson, 8, of Lot 46 Henrietta, Essequibo Coast.

The 24-year-old motorcyclist was reported Monday around 17:30 hours, heading north along the west side of the road, allegedly at high speed when the incident happened.

According to Commander Robinson, the child was in his yard at the time, when he suddenly ran out on the road and into the path of the motorcycle. The motorcycle then collided with Nelson, causing him to fall on the road.

As a result, he sustained injuries to his body and was taken into conscious condition and taken to Suddie Public Hospital where he is being admitted as a patient.

Nelson is undergoing treatment for his broken leg and body fractures.
