Businessman, $ 10M stolen woman, guns and jewelry from Venezuelans – News Room Guyana

Police are pursuing three Venezuelans nationals who allegedly robbed Ka Port Kaituma, a Region One businessman and his wife at gunpoint Monday night.

Police Headquarters revealed in a statement that Elroy Allam, 56, and his alleged 22-year-old wife, Shonna Campbell, had stolen $ 10M, four gold chains and four rings along with the following firearms:

– Semi-Automatic rifle with 30 live rounds and one magazine;
– 32 semi-automatic pistols with ten live rounds and two magazines and
– 12 meter semi-automatic shotgun;

The Newsroom understands that Allam is a licensed firearm holder; the robbery occurred between 23:00h and 23: 32h at the Port Kaituma Allam Waterfront property. Police said one of the suspects can be identified; The ranks retrieved surveillance photos of the incident.

The suspects escaped by boat along the Aruka River and as such, police ranks along with ranks from the Guyana Defense Force (GDF) Coast Guard in Morwhanna responded to the robbery.

Police said that while the ranks searched along the Aruka River, they came under fire from the suspects. The ranks returned on fire but the suspects inside the boat managed to escape in the direction of the Guyana / Venezuela border.

It is unclear at this time whether any of the suspects were injured, but Police Headquarters noted that none of the ranks were injured during the shooting.

Police investigations are ongoing.
