Sunday’s police hunt in the vicinity of D’Urban and Cross Streets, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown has led to the discovery of a pistol with several rounds of ammunition in an apartment.
Based on information received, the Police went into the community where they saw a man running away.
As such, a chase ensued and eventually the individual was trapped in a flat. Police conducted a search of his person, but nothing was found.
However, when the ranks searched the apartment, they found a .32 Taurus millennium pistol and four live rounds of matching ammunition. It was reported that the serial number on the weapon had been filed.
The suspect was arrested and remanded in custody until charged.
A few days ago, ranks were on patrol at Aubrey Barker Road, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown when they heard a suspected gun shot explosion and went to investigate. As they made their way into Penny Lane, they observed a gray-silver Fielder Wagon motor car that two men were leaving. One of them was said to be armed with a black handgun.
Seeing the ranks, the driver of the vehicle drove away in a hurry while the two men ran into a nearby yard. As such, he ran the Police ranks, but both men jumped a concrete fence and compensated for their escape.
As they scaled the fence, the gun and ammunition above were disposed of. These were recalled by the ranks and subsequently delivered at the Police Station. No one was arrested.
