Compulsory seven-day quarantine for travelers to Suriname

People traveling to Suriname will now have to quarantine in hotels or approved hotels for seven days of arrival, according to new COVID-19 travel protocols issued by the Surinamese government.

Yesterday the Guyana Public Works Administration, the Canawaima Ferry Service Inc., and the Ministry of Health made the announcement moments after the government’s newly released travel protocols were released.

In a statement, the Ministry of Public Works said that following a review of the COVID-19 protocols and implemented curfew that is effectively as of yesterday, passengers must receive a negative Polymerase Chain Response Test (PCR test) within 72 hours of ‘ w take a scheduled departure time to Suriname. Upon arrival in Suriname, he added, travelers will be required to quarantine for seven days.
