Distribute 1,500 homes in Region Three

Minister of Housing and Water Collin Croal

Some 1,500 residents of Region Three (Essequibo-West Demerara Islands) are expected to become landowners through the Housing and Planning Authority’s (CH&PA) ‘Dream Realized’ initiative.

Housing and Water Minister Collin Croal explained that the two-day event, held in Leonora, WCD, will benefit residents from communities including Anna Catherina, Meten-Meer-Zorg and Cornelia Ida.

“A number of people have been called who we have pulled from our system. We want to encourage people to adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines when you arrive at the venue. That is why we are undertaking this activity over two days to allow as many people to come as well as to have sufficient space, ”said the Minister of Croal.

The Minister said that the event will have a fully staffed supply prepared to deal with any queries or land issues in the region.

More than 1,000 Guyanese were well-received when a Division Four clause wrapped up the practice at the Guyana National Stadium on Saturday.

“You would acknowledge that when we took office we informed the nation that we had a huge backlog of over 70,000 active applicants remaining in the system, but thanks to His Excellency, Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali has provided the necessary mechanism for us here at the Ministry of Housing and Water through the CH&PA to have lands available for allocation, ”said the Croal Minister.

The Ministry will be heading to East Berbice-Corentyne next Monday at the University of Guyana, Tain Campus, Corentyne, where 2,000 Berbs are expected to benefit from the outreach. (Removed and adapted from DPI)
