Eye-witness: Silly play … | INews Guyana

… On gifts

The AFC came out to defend David Patterson’s greatness after being excluded as receiving millions and millions of dollars as “donations” from State corporations – all under his Public Infrastructure Administration. Incest? These rings were expected to be circulated, as Patterson was their General Secretary, but more so because (felonious) feathers adhered better together, lest they be picked off the other by the eagle-eyed PPP and their exploration teams!

It took a week for the PNC to weigh in, as the nose tightened and Patterson was taken before the courts on corruption charges. This time, the cut went well beyond (gold) beds and bands and (most relevantly) a smoking gun with PNC fingerprints was along it.

The “Single-Source DHB Design Case” contract that detailed a cool $ 148 million purification for a desk study that might not have cost a quarter of that amount. The eviction of purloining was facilitated by none other than Joseph Harmon. His John Hancock signed the Cabinet authorization for that amount to be withdrawn from the Treasury !! It’s like having “Inside Man” in those bank heist movies !!

Harmon and some of his PNC squad came up before the Court, along with some AFC remains. After Patterson and the General Manager of DHB (of the $ 800,000 gold bracelet fame!) Were bailed, Harmon pronounced the issue of gift giving. “I think there should be a clear policy… I trust the completeness of time, with strengthening our democracy, we are able to have clear guidelines on donations and the extent to which you can accept gifts in public office, and what that should mean make you with gifts above a certain level when you leave that public office. “

As we say in Guyana, he was just “playing stupid”. He wants to tell us that we need a POLICY to tell ministers that accepting $ 500,000 gold bands is not kosher? We need a policy to say that theft is prohibited? Was he not the man who justified the 50% pay rise to immunize the same Ministers from corruption? It was clear that he already knew the (corrupt) measure of the people the PNC was appointing to a high position! Didn’t Patterson’s own AFC leader Raphael Trotman come out with a Code of Conduct for Ministers that was explicit on accepting donations?

But that was on donations from outsiders seeking favors. Who would think that people need to be told that accepting gifts bought with taxpayers’ money by your own employees was not right!
What about the venerable “smell test”? Didn’t those furniture beds and gifts smell to high heaven?

… On the border debate

Your Eyewitnesses returned to the PNC greed issue (above) (Ow man, stick to a tie pin and earring bought by employees who want to curry favor, no!) And on the necklace to the west – because these are systemic challenges. Maduro is crazy right – crazy with power. He wants to tell the world that fishing boats in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean should never stray over a (imaginary) border line – no matter how harsh and turbulent the said sea might be!

We have heard the owners of the two seized boats complaining that our Coast Guard is not seizing Venezuelan fishing boats operating in our waters! Well, your Eye-witness thinks our captains are just practicing common sense! As the Venezuelans usually do !! We have just seen a deliberate act taken by the Venezuelan Lynges on Maduro’s orders, which is to scare us.
He is mistaking the will of the Guyanese people. We may have our differences, but in terms of our border:
NOT BLADE OF GRASS!

… On inspections

The Georgetown Mayor does not want the Local Govt Ministry to conduct a “forensic examination” of the City’s books. He claims that only “extraordinary examination” is allowed.
Did he not complain about the financial hanky-panky of endemic City Hall? Too close to home?
