Four arrested after CANU seized over 150 lbs ‘ganja’ – News Room Guyana

An operation carried out by the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) has resulted in the seizure of over 150 pounds of marijuana and the arrest of four people at a house located in Dartmouth on the Essequibo Coast.

CANU Head James Singh confirmed the bust with the Newsroom on Saturday.

The Newsroom understands that CANU ranks collapsed on the property just after noon on Saturday (around 13:00h) where the four individuals were found along with the illegal substance.

The ‘ganga’ seized

The identities of those arrested are not immediately known. Pictures show that the marijuana is already packaged and placed in suitcases, possibly for transportation outside Guyana.

The Newsroom understands that the individuals are under surveillance for a while by CANU. No additional information was immediately available.
