He beat the Bandits, Mahaica’s family

Two armed robbers on Saturday raided Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, a family robbed them of a sum of cash and jewelry, among other items, but not before intimidating them.

The victims have been identified as 49-year-old Pramkumarie Singh, a businesswoman from Riverview, Mahaica, Nardia Singh, 29, and Kuntie Singh, 24, of the same address.

According to police, the victims operate a grocery store in the lower apartment of her two-story house and concrete wood.

At about 12:15h on Saturday, the suspects entered the store and ordered two beers. Pramkumarie handed over the beer to them but one of the suspects asked for a drink change.

The woman was about to hand over the drink, when a suspect armed with an unmarked handgun jumped through the hole at the counter and caught her and the other victims in the shop at gun point.

The bandit demanded cash and jewelry. The victim then hit his jaw and left side face while making his calls.

The other suspect then entered the store through the south door and together, the two robbers took the cash and cellphone cards from a raffle in the store and proceeded to attack the other two victims and take away their personal belongings.

They then took one of the women to the upper flat and then returned to the lower apartment sometime after before making their escape in an unknown direction.

Pramkumarie stole $ 300,000 cash, a sum of GT&T and Digicel phone cards, one gold ring and $ 20,000 gold band and one Iphone; while Nardia was released from her $ 46,000 wedding band and gold chain plus one Iphone.

The thieves also stole Kuntie from two gold rings worth $ 30,000.

Police are investigating the theft.
