An Onderneeming man, Essequibo Coast on Sunday, sustained several stab wounds he received after allegedly assaulting a Police Sergeant with a heart attack.
Deceased is Patrick George, 73, Onderneeming, District Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) pensioner.
Based on reports received, on the day around 13:45h, a Police Sergeant was cleaning his yard and surroundings when George approached him – who was his neighbor.
The victim allegedly removed a zinc sheet from the fence separating the two properties and gaining access to the other land. He then used a cut and a piece of metal to attack the policeman.
As a result, the Police rank branded a cut he was using at the time and in retaliation, George broke. The pensioner dropped the weapons he was carrying and escaped through the said zinc fence.
At about 10:00 h on Monday, the Police, acting on information received, went to George’s home, where they found his immobile body on the steps of his home.
There were wounds to his forehead, wrist and chest.
He was taken to his Suddie Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The body was taken to the Charity mortuary and is awaiting post-mortem. The Sergeant is currently under arrest as the probe continues.
