A 42-year-old motorcyclist is now hospitalized at New Amsterdam Hospital after colliding with a car that overturned in its path on Springlands Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice.
The accident happened just around 15: 50h on Thursday when a CK 4164 motorcycle, driven by Dwayne Rose of Race Course, Springlands, was forced to divert from the path of a PRR 8473 motor car driven by a 42-year-old man from Corriverton.
Police said Rose was proceeding south along the eastbound drive lane at normal speeds while the car was heading in the opposite direction. However, he made a west-east u-turn across the road to the motorcyclist’s route, forcing him to turn left to avoid a collision.
Nevertheless, despite his effort, Rose’s motorcycle collided with the front left side of the car.
As a result of the impact, he collapsed on the road surface where he sustained injuries to his body.
He was picked up in a conscious state by citizens of public spirit and taken to Skeldon Public Hospital, where he was examined by a doctor on duty, then transferred to the Public Hospital of New Amsterdam, where he was seen and further examined by a doctor who admitted him patient.
The driver of the car is currently in Police custody assisting with the investigation.
