Pakistan Super League to resume in Karachi on June 1

LAHORE, (Reuters) – The remaining 20 matches of the Pakistan Premier League (PSL) this year will be held at the Karachi National Stadium with the final on June 20, the country’s cricket board said yesterday.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) suspended its flagship tournament after seven people, including six players, tested positive for COVID-19 last month.

The UWB Board of Governors was disappointed by the failings highlighted in a report to breach the tournament’s standard COVID-19 operating procedures.

“The BoG endorsed all the recommendations of the fact-finding panel, including robust and rigorous implementation of the protocols, as well as maintaining a zero-tolerance approach to all violators of COVID-19 SOPs,” the PCB said in a statement.

Teams will embark on a mandatory seven-day quarantine period from May 22 before Lahore Qalandars challenge Islamabad United in the first game on June 1.
