The ranks of the Guyana Police Narcotics Branch on Saturday destroyed some $ 101 million worth of suspected marijuana trip on a large ganja farm in De Veldt Savannah, Upper Berbice River.
A police press release stated that the ranks, under the command of two officers of the Narcotics Branch, went to the area to conduct a narcotics eradication exercise of 05: 00h and 18: 30h.
During the exercise, the ranks discovered three suspected cannabis farms, measuring about 15 acres and containing about 600,000 ganja plants, ranging from six inches to five feet high along with six shift camps.
The camps were allegedly occupied by three men, who ran into some nearby bushes and escaped seeing police.
The area was searched and one 12 meter single barrel shotgun was found along with two live 12 meter cartridges and one 12 meter empty shotgun.
In addition, a number of seeds, leaves, and stems, suspected to be cannabis, were found wrapped in transparent plastic bags, weighing 40 lbs.
The camps and ganja plants were destroyed by fire.
No one was arrested.
