Preparatory work begins on Moleson Creek-El Dorado Road

Public Works Minister Juan Edghill on Sunday examined the alignment of the Moleson Creek to the El Dorado passageway.

Minister Edghill, accompanied by engineers, officials from the Regional Six Regional Democratic Council and other stakeholders, said the long-term vision is to have a road that will give citizens easy access to the quarries in Orealla.

“You will be able to tap into many of the resources at Orealla for adequate development and access, particularly stone aggregates,” said the Minister.

Minister Edghill noted that the road will reduce the cost of building materials and support local businesses.

The first phase of the $ 100 million road to El Dorado will be beyond the confines of the prospective Guyana-Suriname bridge.

In addition, $ 400 million is invested for various road works in the Neighborhood Democratic Councils (NDCs) in the region.

Further, the townships of Rose Hall, Corrriverton and New Amsterdam will all benefit from $ 50 million in year-round urban road upgrades.
