Several people have been arrested while part of a music system was seized and several vehicles impounded after police woke up to a private party held in Stanleytown, Region Three (Essequibo-West Demerara Islands).

The incident happened last night in Church Street, Stanleytown, West Bank Demerara (WBD).

Acting on information received, a party of policemen went to the scene where they saw several vehicles parked along the street.

When the partygoers noticed the cops, they began to disperse and hide.

However, police arrested a 30-year-old woman who allegedly conducted the party. Seven other people were subsequently arrested after they came out of hiding to fetch their towed vehicles.

Police said a tow truck was summoned in which seven vehicles were moved; six were accommodated at La Grange Police Station while one was taken to the Wales Police Station.

Parts of the music system being used at the party were also seized and confiscated, police said.

According to Divisional Police Manager Senior Superintendent Errol Watts, those arrested were taken into custody at La Grange Police Station for Violating Restrictions on Social Activities, pending charges.
