Sophia’s youth accused of murder escapes from Lusignan Prison – Guyana Newsroom

Guyana Police and Guyana Prison Service are searching for an inmate identified as Ishaka John, 25, of 109 ‘A’ Sophia Field, Greater Georgetown. Police Headquarters revealed in a statement that John escape from Lusignan Prison Catch Bay sometime between 02:00h and 02: 20h Wednesday.

According to the statement John was seen by three ranks of the Police and the Prison Service while he was on top of a fence. As a result several shots were fired in an attempt to capture him but he continued to run in an easterly direction between tower four, five and six.

It is unclear if John was injured and a search is being conducted around and around the area. An investigation has also been launched into the circumstances surrounding the escape.

John was charged with murdering a man choked to death with a belt on Church Street, Queenstown on October 12, 2019.
