The body of a 66-year-old Amerindian man was found Thursday floating at Dredge Creek in the Upper Pomeroon River, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam).
According to Superintendent Divisional Manager Crystal Robinson, the man has been identified as Cecil George.
Reports are that the man’s daughter, Rachel George, made the discovery around 05:30h. A 40-year-old Sommerset and Berks housewife was checking for her father when he found his body floating face down in the cove, dressed in a blue shirt and dark blue short pants.
The body was taken to the Charity jetty by relatives, where it was examined by a Police rank. According to the Police, a fish appeared to be partially eating the deceased’s face.
The body was photographed and then escorted to the Charity Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty. He was subsequently transferred to the Suddie Hospital Mortuary to await a Post Mortem Examination.
Meanwhile, the man’s daughter said she had filed a missing report at Charity Police Station on April 7, after her father failed to return home.
She said her father was last seen alive on April 6 around 22:00 hrs when he left home by boat for an unknown destination. (G15)
