The Private Sector is calling on the Chair of GECOM to address preparedness for local government surveys

The Private Sector Commission (PSC) has called on the Chairman of Justice (Ret’d) Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) Claudette Singh to pronounce on the willingness of the electoral body to conduct local government reviews, while calling for the possible participation of elected officials accusing him of misconduct on the job is “unacceptable.”

In a statement issued yesterday, the PSC urged Singh to “speak out and speak up about the steps being taken to put right everything that has gone wrong at GECOM and to do it quickly.”

One of those things that has “gone wrong,” according to the private sector body, is the fact that GECOM senior officials, including Chief Election Officer Keith Lowenfield, District Four Returning Officer Clairmont Mingo, and several of other officers charged with the courts with “misconduct in public office”.
