Thieves robbed millions of restaurants in cash, jewelry

TWO robbers, on Saturday night, attacked a Chinese restaurant located in Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara, robbing two multi-million dollar sponsors of gold, electronics and cash jewelry.
According to police reports, the incident happened between 20: 15hrs and 20:30hrs on Saturday.
Reports are that speedboat captain Navindra Kooblall, 34, and sales rep Leon Dyal, 33, were dining at Hong Xiang Chinese Restaurant in Lot 15 Pouderoyen when the bandits barked into the establishment, trapping the men at gunpoint.
Kooblall was stolen from six gold chains worth $ 2,145,000; two gold rings worth $ 220,000; one gold band worth $ 400,000; one iPhone Pro 11 Max smartphone worth $ 320,000; one Samsung A17 smartphone worth $ 150,000; and US $ 1,500.

In total, he was released from items totaling $ 3,320,460. Meanwhile, the second victim, Dyal, was robbed of one $ 60,000 Samsung A50 cellphone; GY $ 155,000 in cash; and US $ 200 cash; total GY $ 255,000. The two men live in villages close to the robbery scene.
Following the victims’ robbery, the two men escaped a gun in a white 221 motor car that was reportedly parked nearby. Police arrived at the scene a few minutes after receiving reports of the robbery but, by then, there were no remains of the suspects.
The entire theft was captured on CCTV cameras erected in the building. The photos, released by Guyana Police, show the thieves entering the restaurant, carrying guns in side bags that hung across their shoulders.
The GPF said several people have so far been questioned as investigations continue into the incident.
