Three men were arrested Tuesday during a virtual appearance at Linden Magistrates’ Court for treating marijuana in Wiruni, Upper Berbice River, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice).
Vahaley Sinclair, 19, a farmer from Wiruni; Reynard Gladstone, 21, of Aroaima, Upper Berbice River; and 44-year-old Tofan Shivnarine of Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, Berbice, was arrested last Wednesday for growing prohibited plants.
On Tuesday, they were charged with cultivating Prohibited Plants committed on Public Justice imposed under Section 8 (1) (a) (1) of the Control of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 10:10.
They appeared through Zoom before Magistrate Wanda Fortune when they pleaded not guilty and were remanded in prison until April 16, 2021.
The matter was transferred to Kwakwani Magistrates’ Court.
