US $ 9M in additional work for CJIA; contractor to cover cost

Agreement between the Government of Guyana and the China Harbor Engineering Company (CHEC) for Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA)

The Government of Guyana is pleased to announce that the Ministry of Public Works has today entered into an Agreement with China Harbor Engineering Company (CHEC) for additional work by CHEC at Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) up to approximately US $ 9M at a mere Company cost China Harbor Engineering.

The new work will include:

· Extension of the Airport’s residential corridor to accommodate two other passenger boarding bridges, providing a total of six boarding bridges to the Airport capable of servicing aircraft such as the Boeing 777, Dreamliner, the AirBus and trans-aircraft similar atlantic.

· The Terminal Building being extended to accommodate additional commercial space such as food courts and duty free shops. The expanded building will feature a modern airport facade covering the full length of the Exit Terminal.

· China Harbor Engineering Company has further agreed to rectify and complete all remaining remedial works within prescribed timelines.

It has been agreed that the entire work will be completed by 31st December 2021.

The Agreement was signed by a Permanent Secretary, Mr. Vladim Persaud, of the Ministry of Public Works on behalf of the Government of Guyana and Mr. Liu Keliang, Project Manager for and on behalf of China Harbor Engineering Company Limited.
