Dear Editor,
Guyanese must “start raising hell” over recent revelations of waste, tax, and questionable pre-taxpayer, misuse of money, all serious crimes, let’s urge our PPP / C Administration to continue to do so these criminals and let them face the law. The APNU / AFC coalition had put this country through a turbulent five months as it desperately tried to change the election results and hang on to it illegally despite being massively defeated in the March 2 polls.
This was the same APNU / AFC that had been illegally occupying Government seats for about two years, as it postponed holding elections in March 2019 – which was constitutionally mandated after being defeated by the passing of Motion None Confidence in the National Assembly.
It must not be forgotten that it was our Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo who told the National Assembly during his virtual presentation that made it clear that the country will, in time, be “stunned” by the high fraud disclosures by former Granger regime officials including cases of bribery. Guyanese, we have already seen the “criminality” that took place at NICIL where the largescale transfer of resources obtained, again involving many senior Administration officials of the past, was “deep in the throat” in the proceedings that. Former Public Infrastructure Minister David Patterson and former General Manager of the Demerara Harbor Bridge, Rolston Adams were jointly charged Monday with defrauding the Bridge Corporation of $ 162,635,015.
They were given $ 200,000 bail.
Patterson and Adams were both under the spotlight recently for receiving expensive gifts from agencies that came under their preview, Patterson as former Public Infrastructure Minister and General Manager Adams – something Patterson initially denied, but after evidence face on the purchases. , Patterson was under pressure and admitted to receiving the gold band, these sagas and their “deep involvement in an attempt to deceive the people of Guyana.
Guyanese, it must be noted that we really need to “turn the corner” on APNU / AFC practices that caused our country to go down in flames “. What is unfolding before us is a clear indication of why our society could not “survive” under the APNU / AFC, “the obvious waste of taxpayer dollars”, which had threatened to “drag us all down with it” ”By ever- increasing taxes, inferior public services and undermining merit.
As recently as Friday, no more than $ 34 million dollars was counted in Region 10.
The People’s Progressive Party / Civic Administration is only six months into Government and the Auditor General’s Audit reports have uncovered numerous incidents of fraud, corruption, waste of taxpayers’ funds and public sector mismanagement resulting from absence or weak controls and inadequate supervision.
The report uncovered missing documents to “fraudulently” cover up fraudulent activities
The Auditor General also referred to lost funds that could not be accounted for in some cases.
Many Government contracts were submitted to competitive bidding where the Government Tenders Board was routinely bypassed in the award of contracts that should have gone before, and all did so under the former APNU Government / AFC.
These people needed to be held accountable for the way they had used taxpayers’ money. Where was the accountability and responsibility? Guyanese, “We were spending our money. If you did not hold your job back then you should be held accountable. The only way we’re going to get back to fair enforcement of the law is by doing this. There must be a line in the sand that cannot be crossed. They should be carried out to the task. It’s just ridiculous. ”
Guyanese must demand accountability from the former APNU / AFC Government. It is in the interest of all citizens to demand higher standards from politicians and the public service, otherwise, their financial well-being will be directly affected – as was already done under the former APNU / AFC Government – through higher taxes to pay about excessive Government waste and spending under the previous Government
We have to get this out of the system, It just kills us.
These issues highlight the need for greater transparency in the public procurement process, the PPP / C Government has already taken that huge leap showing that public office holders have a general duty to act for the benefit of the nation and that they have a special duty. of care for our citizens.

Correctly,
David Adams
