LATOYA Rose, who was allegedly caught with ganja in her handbag, appeared Tuesday at Georgetown Magistrates Court and was given $ 20,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan. Rose of Third Street, Alberttown, denied possessing narcotics for the purposes of a trafficking charge when it was read to her. It is alleged that on January 8 at Fourth and Light Streets, Alberttown, Georgetown, she had a narcotic specifically, 36 grams of cannabis, for human trafficking purposes.
It was reported that on the day in question, at approximately 19:30 hours, ranks from Alberttown Police Station on patrol duty while observing Rose at the corner of Fourth and Light Streets, Alberttown, Georgetown, were acting in a suspicious manner. A search was performed on Rose’s handbag. During the search, a white plastic bag was found with several small parcels of ziplock bags containing several leaves, seeds and stems, suspected to be cannabis. Rose was told of the crime committed and cautioned. She said she was careful to say “Wesley is an officer himself. He let me sell it ”. She was arrested and charged for the crime. The matter was adjourned until February 17.
