Onika George performing “This Christmas”

Kaieteur News – A 22-year-old Guyanese girl named Onika Miquela George performed a heartbreaking original Christmas song to her audience on Facebook on Wednesday. George’s song “This Christmas” met the ears of his friends and followers and everyone was simply amazed. Not only was her voice soothing and the epitome of Guyana’s rich talent, but the song’s lyrics were attributed to this difficult year of 2020.
He read the words:
Mistletoe, Christmas lights…
This season makes me feel so light
It gives me a smile, gives me life, makes me hope for the next year in good time
Remember in the beginning when everything went to hell,
People were crying, people were dying, that was the trend
We never thought we would do it but we did in the end
For those of us who made it, let’s be grateful my friend

Mother Nature had us who didn’t know what to do
The world was going crazy but it made us all blue
The year is finally over let’s see next year’s view
So hold on to all your loved ones and sing this tune

This Christmas is the time for love
and this Christmas is the time to give thanks above
This Christmas is the time to live
and Christmas is the time for new beginnings.
Happy Holidays!
The young woman hailing from Lodge, the Georgetown area shared the inspiration behind the song for her to know that this year is struggling. “I know many of us have been through a lot of turmoil this year and it has proved so much for us and it also made us see how strong we are as people in the world. Many of us didn’t think we could make it through 2020, ”he said.
He further said that something struck us every time we thought we were having a break from trouble this year, but luckily we are still here, alive and well.
“I wanted everyone to know that as everything that will also pass. With this song I wanted to bring light and Hope for the New Year and bring happiness to those who felt they couldn’t do it, ”he joyfully expressed.
Her video recording of her performing the song has been widely shared across the Facebook platform, and people in reverence are afraid of her talent. Individuals looking to watch her performance can find her on her Facebook under the name “Quela George”.
