The land of a Canaan man killed by a speeding car

Kaieteur News – A Canaan man died Tuesday after a speeding car collided with him on the Kuru Kururu public road, Soesdyke / Linden Highway.
The victim has been identified as Bheesham Nandram, 32, of Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara. Nandram was identified yesterday morning by his mother Indira Bangatt, 53, from the same address.
According to police, a 42-year-old man from North Road Bourda, Georgetown, the driver of the car, was taken into custody and is assisting with the investigation.
At about 21:00 hours on the Kuru Kururu Public Road, the 42-year-old man was heading west along the south side at a high speed.
The driver alleged that Nandram had run sharply north-south into his lane and as a result the left-hand side of the car collided with the pedestrian, causing him to fall forward into the front then on to the road surface, receiving injuries for her body.
Nandram was picked up in an unconscious state and transported to Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor.
When Kaieteur News reached out to the relatives of the deceased, his father, Kawal Nandram, after discovering about the accident, stated that they had gone to the scene of the accident where they saw one side of the deceased’s shoes. “We went up to the station and when we passed back the shoes had disappeared … in the morning [Wednesday] we went to the hospital and identified the body, ”the man added.
The driver was subjected to a breath test and no traces of alcohol were found. An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
