Kaieteur News – A District 6 employee of the Regional Democratic Council (RDC), arrested Tuesday for threatening his alleged wife with knives, was slapped on Wednesday with two charges.
Godwin Allicock was charged with threatening behavior and possession of offensive weapons (two knives). He made his first court appearance at New Amsterdam Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Peter Hugh and pleaded not guilty to both charges.
Magistrate Hugh ordered him to undergo a mental evaluation and be remanded in custody until January 5, 2021.
Meanwhile, Kaieteur News was informed by Commander Jairam Ramlakhan, that Allicock is currently at the National Psychiatric Hospital in Fort Canje, Berbice.

Godwin Allicock, whose last known address is Rose Hall Town, was arrested Tuesday after he armed himself with knives and threatened his alleged wife in the vicinity of New Amsterdam Police Station.
A police source reported that the night before the incident, Allicock broke into the woman’s home and fell asleep. After finding him in the house, the woman decided to file a report with the police, since they were separated.
According to police, the woman and the suspect work at the RDC and while she was making her way into work she saw the suspect also enter the compound. She told police she left the scene immediately and returned to the station, but it was reported that Allicock followed her and jumped in the taxi with two knives in hand.

It was at the station that Allicock rushed to her and began threatening her, with the knives in her hand. Ranks made efforts to arrest him but managed to escape.
Police immediately launched a search and shortly after arresting the man.
A police source revealed that a bottle containing a toxic substance and two knives were recovered by the suspect.
