However, the Covid-19 pandemic led to the suspension of all cricket and forced players to train privately. With no cricket for a long time, Adams remains positive about realizing his full potential.
His talent was demonstrated early in his career and following his first season of a season which proved fruitful, he was included in Guyana’s 50-plus senior team and a bright future ahead.
Subsequently, Adams found himself under the radar of the Guyana Cricket Board’s disciplinary committee and this hindered his progress somewhat.
Realizing the importance of discipline, Adams continued to shadow his craft and has caught the eyes of many cricket pundits. He has an outstanding set of performances, but feels his best is yet to come. Speaking to Kaieteur Sport recently Adams said he wants to excel for his country. “Once given the opportunity, I will make my best efforts. Playing for your country is an honor and a challenge, I love challenges and am confident of doing well. “
Adams noted that he had been training indoors and was keen to get back on the field. “There is always room for improvement and I am working harder to improve in some areas, including fitness so that I can improve my strengths and challenges.”
Adams, undoubtedly one of the top limited-overs cricketers in Guyana, said he has set himself high standards, moreover since becoming a father. “Being a bitch

they help me become more responsible and this helps me to make the right decisions. I’m a more positive person, ”he said.
Adams who plays for Hyde Park from East Bank Essequibo and Police SC noted that he gets extra motivation from his employer Rajkumar Singh, CEO of Movements Family of Mahdia who has been an avid Adams fan over the years. “I didn’t make the best of choices earlier in my career, but we all make mistakes. His support is encouraging, he persuades me to train harder and offer valuable advice, ”related Adams.
Seeing compatriots going places is an added impetus for Adams and his combination with Singh pushes him even further.
Following a background check with the Wakenaam-born cricketer, Singh decided to provide support after being impressed by the player.
In an invited comment, Singh said he had been following the player ever since he was playing at under-19 level and was happy to provide assistance. “I had a chat with Ricardo, he was pretty good at the under 19 level and some issues with him. I continued to pursue his career and saw him in the senior national team. I know he has the potential to do better and I decided to help and hope he can do his talent justice, ”said Singh.
Singh noted that the Adams had thought of quitting, but decided to become more involved in his career and help him.
Adams has so far appeared in seven A-list matches for Guyana, scoring 54 runs in five flyovers and taking six wickets.
