A Message from Kaieteur News Publisher to our Professionals
Kaieteur News – I have been in the newspaper business for 26 years, during which time I have been constantly exposing the wrongs in our society. I am ready to continue on the path on behalf of all Guyanese.
Guyana needs strong and smart leadership. I don’t see this at the moment. The lack of leadership threatens our future and that of our children. What will become of them if there is nothing left for them to inherit? Our country is blessed with tremendous wealth. But what do we, the people, get as owners of these resources? And what is left to our children?
Mr David Granger, as President, had the integrity to issue the broken oil contract signed by his administration. How many of you have taken the time to read and analyze its content? If you have done so, what contributions have you made to the ongoing debate about giving away our oil blocks and selling rights to our resources?
Guyana has become the laughing stock of all the world. Everyone now wants a share of our resources and if possible free or nothing next. Our leaders are ready to bend over and surrender our patriotism. Our bauxite, gold, diamonds, wood, manganese, and now, our oil wealth disappear into corporate treasures, leaving crumbs thrown away at us. Our resources are distributed to friends, cronies and to multinational multinationals specializing in country resource rape.
Imagine your parents own a huge agricultural estate where a variety of crops are grown. Would you sit quietly and allow your parents to put everything away and leave nothing for you? When are you going to worry and speak out against this travesty?
I call on you to join us in condemning the robbery of your own future and that of your children.
