The Massy Group of Companies from Trinidad and Tobago has announced that it is making more than US $ 1 million available to develop and deliver programs to entrepreneurs throughout the Caribbean.
Massy is likely to work with other organizations in the region to provide mutual support to emerging regional small and medium businesses. The company says it believes the recovery of the regional economies in which it operates will require significant entrepreneurial activity and energy going forward.
Massy Group President and CEO Gervase Warner has noted that the company’s Board of Directors has approved initial spending to develop and deliver programs for entrepreneurs throughout the region, including pop-up selling points in its own stores. The company will also identify what it considers to be worthwhile investments in other stores.
The so-called NUDGE initiative will launch in Barbados and St Lucia this year.
The company says it also aims to respond to instances where regional entrepreneurs have been displaced due to various developments including circumstances arising from the current COVID-19 pandemic. His initiative incorporates three tiers of activities, namely training and development for aspiring entrepreneurs exploring ideas for their own business, support for artisans and micro-entrepreneurs with products seeking to reach markets ; and support for entrepreneurs through governance, networks, Massy training, and in some cases finance.
The NUDGE initiative also invites the participation of other organizations and businesses in the initiative.
