APNU + AFC did more for cronies than constituents – AG Nandlall

“What lands have they given to the people of Den Amstel, Buxton, Golden Grove, Nabacalis, Litchfield, Victoria, Belladrum, Mocha and I to go on,” the Attorney General asked.
“Months before the 2020 elections in an election gimmick, the Honorable members quickly distributed a few housing lots in areas that were completely undeveloped and unprepared for housing. Similarly, the AG highlighted several projects and actions by the APNU + AFC, which he considers to be a failure to fulfill his promises to his constituents. These include taking land from farmers, treating it with a teachers’ strike for better pay and conditions, stalling public servant promotions, unlawful dismissal of public servants by former Minister Tabitha Sarabo-Halley, closing sugar estates resulting in thousands of workers laid on the bread line, and the like.
“The Honorable members come here pretending to be Afro Guyanese representatives,” said Nandlall, “when all they have done in government is ruined by the ordinary people of this country, including Afro Guyanese. ”
He went on to state that APNU + AFC was wrong to take authority to determine who is more competent to represent Afro-Guyanese.
“Let me make it absolutely clear Mr. Speaker,” Nandlall told the House, “none of the Honorable members on that side are more qualified to represent Afro-Guyanese than anyone on this side, and will be the record showing the successive PPP / C. governments have done more for Afro-Guyanese and indeed for all racial groups in this country than you have ever done since Independence. This Afro-centric charade must be dismantled from the Hon. How dare the Honorable members look at and simply label Mark Phillips, the Prime Minister of this country with significant portfolio responsibilities? How dare the Honorable members look at and signal to Oneidge Walrond, the Minister with portfolio of Trade, Industry and Tourism in this country? How dare the Honorable members label Joseph Hamilton, Minister with the Labor portfolio as a sign, label Bishop Edghill, Minister responsible for Public Works as a sign, Kwame McKoy with responsibility for State-wide media, simple sign , Hugh Todd, Minister for Foreign Affairs, as a sign only, and Minister Robeson Benn, the Minister with responsibility for National Security as a sign only. The Attorney General said Guyana is at a fundamental point, where Guyanese of all races and classes must make a choice about whether they themselves are to be abused and treated by APNU + AFC.
