(Reuters) – A century of captain Sean Williams and clinical speed bowling from Blessing Muzarabani and Victor Nyauchi led Zimbabwe to a 10-wicket victory over Afghanistan within two days of the opening test in Abu Dhabi yesterday.
After Afghanistan was bowled out for 131 in the first inning, Williams’ middle-order batsman negotiated a vein-friendly conditions to score 105 and helped Zimbabwe to a solid 250 total.
On track by 119, Afghanistan was struggling to spend time in the crease as eight batters were dismissed for single figures in the second innings, five of them for ducks.
They bowled out at 135 to set a target of 17, and reached Zimbabwe in 20 deliveries without losing any wickets.
Muzarabani and his new ball partner Nyauchi, who completed their career best test figures of 3-30 in the second inning, finished the match with six wickets each.
It was the second test match in less than a week to finish inside two days after India beat England by 10 wickets in their daytime clash in Ahmedabad.
