GOOD GOVERNMENT
Dear Editor,
Kaieteur News – When a party is voted into government, it is imperative that they govern in such a way that all the citizens of that country can benefit. The subjects of that country should feel safe that they have made the right choice – a choice that must of course be respected – and then move on to the governance aspect, where it makes decisions, plans and projections to lead the people into respectful life.
It is an ordained responsibility where you must fulfill the wishes of the people who placed them there and not impose their own party political ideologies, these are the ground rules I will headline Governance 101 .And this has been our country’s bugbear. for the last 5 years 5 months later and even before for 28 continuous years. I’m talking about a nation called Guyana, which was hampered by foolish acts of a party that was, and is still rooted in, the concept of victory and crass dictatorship.
Well, that false concept of them was soon put to rest, when the people of this country spoke in clear and unambiguous tones on March 2, 2020. The People wanted change and came when they voted those repulsive people out of office. The denizens got their marching orders and were told to get their knees off our windpipes and free us again.
Another aspect of good governance, is the rights of the people not only to hear what the government is doing for them, but to see what they have done. For the last five years we have been told the “Good Life” but never grasp it, life was an illusion that always lay in the distance when constantly talking about it and nothing else. The term view is to believe that circles are true in this debate, and so the people of this country sought the experience of that good life.
The point is, we must not only hear about “good life,” we look forward to seeing it, that is, having visible signs of where our money is being spent, whether it is on a new road. , a new jetty or a new helicopter, we reserve the right to see and feel it. We are also aware that our livelihoods or standard of living should be improved. Our level of existence must show significant improvement.
If one can only see the lives of the elected and not the lives of the ordinary people, then something is wrong with the structure of that government and that system must be rigorously investigated and ‘ the individuals in it. Therefore, checks and balances have been put in place to curb the excesses of those who believe they can improve their prosperity and trample on hard-working taxpayer poverty. If a party thinks they can access the treasury for their own personal benefit and the people would give them a free ticket, then they need to think again, this is true of the government and the opposition.
Now, this is where the rubber hits the road, because when people are put under the microscope they must not turn again and say I am being hunted down, they must be free not available and always available to take the test. The PPP / C took them and stood up like a man, now when it’s APNU + AFC’s turn to face the heat, we’re greeted with a host of lame and forgetful excuses. The fact remains, no party in or outside the office should be allowed to escape with it, they must be held accountable for their actions.
So, I say in this new spill of things, we look forward to keeping clean, transparent and honest governance.
Respectfully submitted
Neil Adams
