I commend Anand Sanasie and Calvin Hope as President and Vice President of CWI

Kaieteur News – Following Anand Sanasie’s birthday he will run for Cricket West Indies Inc. presidency. with Calvin Hope as vice president, I decided to do some background checks on the four candidates namely Rickey Skeritt, Kishore Shallow, Anand Sanasie and Calvin Hope, and it was revealing what I found.
Since Skeritt and Shallow took over the West Indies cricket leadership, Guyana has been on the other side of international cricket along with Barbados, Trinidad and Jamaica to a lesser extent. Most international and regional cricket matches were played even in the Leewards and Windwards Islands. Here in Guyana we had international cricket starvation, a clear case of isolation and payback time for those who voted for them. Guyanese cricketers also suffered immensely during Skeritt and Shallow’s bipartisan period. Although we are the best team in regional four-day cricket, the most we have had at any one time is one cricketer in the test team and now we have nothing. And the treatment given to Hetmyer is disgraceful when his fitness is compared with Gayle, Cornwall and Edwards. What else does Permaul have to do to make the eleven play in test cricket? Why Hemraj, Johnson, Barnwell, Paul, Motie and others do not have the same opportunities as less talented players from the other islands, many of whom continue to fail and get picked over and over again. Again it’s a clear case of isolation and Skeritt and Shallow have done nothing about it. And finally, CWI’s financial position is in red throughout their season and so there is no money to fund grassroots cricket in the various territories to help develop and nurture promising young cricketers.
Anand Sanasie has done a tremendous job of elevating Guyana cricket to the state he is in today with one of the best academy program in the West Indies churning out quality cricketers year after year leading to Guyana. best team in all formats from the West. Cricket India. And financially, the Guyana Cricket Board is never in the red and so I would like to take this opportunity to approve Anand Sanasie and Calvin Hope to become President and Vice President of CWI and I call on the other territories to support them to lift West Indies cricket from the doldrums it has been in for a very long time now and to take its well-deserved place at the top of world cricket.
