Missing – Bibi Farida Khan.9
Kaieteur News – It has been two weeks since Bibi Farida Khan’s whereabouts remained unknown, and relatives are hoping the police in Berbice can investigate the case properly, as they believe foul play was the main factor in her disappearance. District Six Commander in Charge, Jairam Ramlakhan, confirmed with this announcement that sniffer dogs had been transported to a backdam area where Khan was last seen and a search was conducted, but the investigation ranks came up empty. She said five people, including the woman’s husband, were arrested, questioned, statements taken and subsequently released on station bail after the 72 hours of detention had ended.
Kaieteur News had reported that the woman’s husband was employed with a businessman who owns a ranch in Crabwood Creek, and on a monthly basis, would accompany her husband to the ranch and stay with him, and he would return out every month to buy groceries. When the man, identified as Robert Dennis, named “Buckman,” came out of the ranch and went home, he allegedly told his in-laws of his wife’s whereabouts and told him they thought his that she is with him all the time. The sister had said that Dennis had told them that Khan had left the ranch to go out and buy groceries. He told them he was receiving the goods he had bought, but he never saw her.
Information given to this publication by the woman’s son, Anil Naipaul, indicated that his mother had purchased the goods and had joined the canter with employees employed on behalf of the businessman, but before As they entered the ranch, the “head” stopped her at the gate and checked her bag. Naipaul said he was told by an employee that when the boss came to look for her bag, a bottle of alcohol was found and he pulled the alcohol out of the bag and chased his mother away. She said they were told she walked out back onto the public road and sat by a shed and then walked “about four miles to go around the backdam” to get to the ranch in another direction. However, from this point the information as it relates to exactly where she went, and when was the last time she was seen has been questionable. The woman is said to have to cross the farming area of another businessman to reach the ranch where her husband works.
A video seen in this publication shows a viewer being questioned by relatives. He said he saw the woman Monday morning, the same day she was reported to be persecuted from the ranch, and was making her way to the ranch’s location. He said later that day his boss gave him a bag containing the woman’s clothes along with other items, but the woman never saw him again. That bag was handed over to the woman’s husband. The missing woman’s husband said when he asked the bosman where he got the bag, he said he never gave his viewer a bag.
The family is looking for answers, and thinks the businessman who owns the farming area and his watchman might know what happened to Bibi Khan. They believe the authorities involved in Springlands Police Station have not been taking the matter seriously. They are seeking justice and want the farm owner and his watchman to be questioned further. Today, they are expected to meet with the officer responsible for criminal investigations in Berbice to voice their concerns.
