Opener Allen helps N. Zealand vacate Bangladesh 3-0 in the T20 series

(Reuters) – New Zealand opener Finn Allen cut 71 off 29 deliveries to help the hosts defeat Bangladesh by 65 runs in the third Twenty20 international game shortened by rain yesterday to complete a 3-0 sweep of ‘ the series.

Allen, who turns 22 this month, hit 10 fours and three sixes to help New Zealand to a total of 141-4 after wet weather forced the Auckland match to be reduced to 10 overs per side.

The right wing added 85 in less than six overs for the opening stand with Martin Guptill, who also belted five sixes and four in his 19-ball 44.

The touring side, which had lost 3-0 in the previous ODI series, suffered the ignominy of being bundled for 76 in 9.3 overs, with New Zealand leg spinner Todd Astle rising 4-13 in his two overs.

Black Caps captain Tim Southee, opener Soumya Sarkar and Bangladesh captain Liton Das dismissed consecutive deliveries in the first game and later returned to lift Mosaddek Hossain’s wicket to finish with 3-15.
