Trinidad PM tests COVID-19 positive

(Guardian of Trinidad) The Office of the Prime Minister has confirmed that Dr Keith Rowley has tested positive for COVID-19.

The following is a brief statement posted on the official Facebook page of the Prime Minister’s Office:

Prime Minister Dr The Hon Keith Rowley has tested positive for COVID-19.

The Prime Minister started experiencing flu-like symptoms yesterday evening and was subsequently tested for COVID-19.

Dr Rowley is alone and under medical supervision.

The Prime Minister was originally supposed to take his first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine later today, in Tobago.

He had spent the Easter holiday weekend on the island.

Meanwhile, a post on the official Facebook page of the Office of the Chief Secretary of THA, reports that Ancil Dennis will be in home quarantine for the next few weeks.

“Out of sufficient notice, the Honorable First Secretary Ancil Dennis will be quarantined at home until after April 16th. He will work from home, ”the statement read.

It was attached to a more comprehensive statement from Mr Dennis’s official Facebook page.

“I was informed earlier today that I had come into contact with the main COVID-19 recent positive case contact on Good Friday (April 2). Although my exposure to the main contact was minimal and practiced wearing masks and social distance during the interaction, I hurried to get tested for COVID-19, as is mandatory in the circumstances and got a negative result, ”he said a statement by Mr Dennis.

“Out of plenty of caution, I will remain in quarantine at home until after April 16, when the fourteen day quarantine period ends. I will be working from home during this time and fulfilling my office responsibilities through virtual meetings and other relevant communications, ”he assured.

The First Secretary of THA added:

“I continue to encourage all residents to remain vigilant and vigilant during this time, even in light of the advent of COVID-19 vaccines. I cannot stress enough how important it is for us to ensure that we adhere to the COVID-19 protocols, if we are to keep our numbers low and return to a higher level of normality. ”
