Murdered: Marcus Anthony Singh.
Kaieteur News – Popular Guyanese make-up artist and fashion designer, Marcus Anthony Singh also known as Latchman, was found murdered Tuesday at his El Dorado apartment in Trinidad. According to reports, the 27-year-old Singh had shared the apartment with two others.
His body, according to reports, had three stab wounds to his neck.
According to a Trinidad Express report, “the discovery was made by his girlfriend on his return home. He saw Marcus lying on the floor motionless, covered in his underwear in a pool of blood. ”An alarm was raised and police and paramedics were summoned, it was revealed.
Singh added that the report was dead by paramedics. His body was removed by the undertakers and is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
In an invited comment, Samira Ashley, Singh’s sister from Guyana, told Kaieteur News that “my brother moved to the twin island several years ago to further his career in the fashion and cosmetics industry.”
He said, “I received a call about a minute to nine from Marcus’ girlfriend on Tuesday night and was informed of his horrific death.” Ashley said Singh was her “big” brother.
The woman said she was told that her brother and partner had gone to buy a “poodle puppy” shortly after noon on Tuesday and after that they had returned home. His partner, he said, had left to run some errands and on his return made the discovery. She went on to state that no suspects have been taken into custody but she is optimistic that justice will be served.
Given the restrictions in Trinidad as it relates to COVID-19, Ashley said that she and the rest of the grieving Singh family, all of whom live here in Guyana, hope that the Government will intervene so that bring Singh’s body home.
As news of Singh’s death circulated on social media yesterday, sympathy was extended to the family from those who knew him and loved him. Many people in their posts stated that “Marcus will always be remembered as a smart and multi-talented young man.”
