A ‘gray boy’ has been released from Crum-Ewing’s murder
No case submission confirmed …
Kaieteur News – Yesterday Regan Rodrigues was acquitted of the murder of Courtney Crum-Ewing on a no-case submission, upheld by Justice Sandil Kissoon at the High Court in Georgetown.

Released: Regan “Gray Boy” Rodrigues.
Justice Kissoon upheld the submission presented by Rodrigues’ attorney, Adrian Thompson, who argued that the State had no case against his client.
This is the third time Rodrigues has been released from the murder charge for Crum-Ewing. In 2015, a Magistrate, Judy Latchman, pointed to insufficient evidence against Rodrigues for the case. She had twice released Rodrigues but the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) instructed that the matter be referred to the High Court.
However, in reaching his decision in the High Court yesterday, Justice Kissoon found the evidence presented by the prosecution to be flawed and thin. In the circumstances, the Judge instructed the jury to return a formal verdict of not guilty for Rodrigues.

Murdered: Courtney Crum-Ewing.
The former accused, nicknamed “Gray Boy,” who joined in with what almost happened from Lusignan Prison, burst into tears as the decision was made.
Rodrigues had faced Justice Kissoon and a 12-member mixed jury for the March 10, 2015 murder of political activist Crum-Ewing, who was gunned down in Diamond, Demerara East Bank (EBD).
According to reports, the bullet-riddled body was found from Crum-Ewing at Third Avenue, Diamond New Scheme, East Bank Demerara. The 40-year-old was shot twice to the temple, once to the back of his head and twice to his stomach.
Police in a statement said the political activist had charged four men in a car, one of which released several rounds, striking him about the body. The killer / murderer was reportedly using a .32 pistol to execute Crum-Ewing. He died as a result of haemorrhage and shock due to multiple gunshot wounds.
The political activist was best known for his one-man protests outside the office of the Attorney General (AG), Anil Nandlall.
Minutes before he was gunned down, he was heard through a bullhorn urging Diamond neighborhood residents to vote against the PPP / C party. After Crum-Ewing was shot, the gun used was found in the shooting of a house in Riverview, Ruimveldt, which was occupied by Rodrigues.
