Police in Region One (Barima-Waini) are investigating an alleged simple larceny committed on Orin Fernandes, a 29-year-old Toshao from the Chinese Landing Village.
The alleged robbery happened sometime between 18:00 hours on Sunday and 05:00 hours on Monday in China Landing, North West Region. The Toshao reportedly lost a $ 4.5 million Yamaha engine and outboard boat (200 HP), Police Headquarters noted in a statement.
According to police, on Sunday, the victim secured his boat by a rope in the back of his home about 100 feet away in an inlet, according to the norm. On Monday, at about 05:00 hours, the victim made checks and found his boat and engine missing.
The victim then made several checks in and around the Chinese Landing where he received specific information from people in the area regarding the name of the suspect who allegedly broke the rope and was seen heading towards the Waini river with the boat.
The victim then made a report over the cellphone to Acquero Police Station. Police are searching for the suspect, as well as the boat and engine. The investigation is ongoing.
