GuyOil General Manager Resigns – Guyana Newsroom

Guyana Oil Company (GuyOil) General Manager Trevor Bassoo denied media reports that he was sent on administrative leave, nothing he has tendered his resignation.

In a statement made on his Facebook page on Tuesday, Bassoo denied reports that he had been sent on vacation pending an investigation into a multi-million dollar scandal involving the acquisition of fuel.

“It has been pointed out to me that news is circulating on social media suggesting that I was sent on administrative leave in light of alleged corruption at GUYOIL.

“I would like to point out that is CONTENT. I would also like to advise that I have chosen and submitted my resignation to the Chairman and Board of Directors, ”noted Basso.

Basso said he plans to seek legal advice on the way forward.

“Friends, family and wise men, do not be misled by propaganda … Thank you for the love and support I have received over the past few hours. You have all given me the strength to fight this unnecessary battle, ”he said.

Basso was appointed General Manager in October 2020, replacing the then CEO, Renatha Exeter, who had resigned from the company.

GuyOil has not yet announced its replacement.
