Singh asks the Audit Office to investigate GUYOIL after the dealer alleges corruption

Following allegations of an acquisition irregularity at the Guyana Oil Company Limited (GUYOIL), whose General Manager resigned abruptly yesterday, Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh, has invited the Auditor General to investigate and sound a warning that corruption will not be tolerated.

“I registered our government’s serious concern in the report circulating this morning and invited them to explain the issues they had done,” Singh told Stabroek News after meeting with the GUYOIL Board.

He was referring to claims made by a fuel dealer from the company Aaron Realty Inc (ARI), who claims he is now left with a large amount of fuel on hand after some company officials committed that GUYOIL would buy. The dealer claims to have evidence of the undertakings from company officials who also sought back kickbacks in return for the company’s purchase.
