Bairstow (63 *) leads Sunrisers to first win – News Room Guyana

Jonny Bairstow’s unbeaten 63 from the Sunrisers Hyderabad led to their first victory in the Indian Premier League 2021 with a nine-wicket victory over Punjab Kings.

Bairstow held 73 with David Warner (37) and 48 with Kane Williamson (16 *) as his side won with eight balls to spare.

Punjab bowled out for 120 of 19.4 overs with Mayank Agarwal and Shahrukh Khan scoring at the top with 22.

Khaleel Ahmed was the Sunrisers bowlers’ choice taking 3-21.

Bairstow is now the third-highest run scorer, behind Delhi Capitals’ Shikhar Dhawan and Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Glenn Maxwell in this season’s competition with 173 runs from four flyovers.

He hit three fours and three sixes in his 56-ball innings, taking 48 balls to reach his half-century – the longest he’s ever taken in a Twenty20 match.

It was his seventh half-century in IPL cricket, and the highest individual score in a hunt in Chennai this season.

Sunrisers is the third team, in eight games, to win persecution in Chennai this season with the sides struggling to bat second on the ground with the field slowing down as the game progresses front.
