A Corentyne man arrested for assaulting a woman

A 27-year-old man has been arrested for assaulting his wife at their No. 64 Village home, Corentyne, Berbice on April 19.

Reports are that the man and his brother were at home drinking alcohol when he (the husband) called his wife and asked her if she was “looking out for her boyfriend”.

The 27-year-old woman, according to police, ignored her comment and remained silent.

This led to the man grabbing the woman by her hair. Then he began to cuff her several times to the head. The man pushed his finger further into the woman’s eye as he threatened to kill her.

The woman sought medical attention at a health center the next day. According to police, the nurse reported the matter after she questioned the victim about her injuries.

Ranks from Village Police Station No. 51 went to the suspect’s home and arrested him.

Upon investigation, it was also revealed that, about a month ago, the man had cut the woman to her hand.

Investigations are ongoing.
