A 27-year-old man from Corentyne, Berbice is in custody pending police investigations after allegedly hitting his 27-year-old wife and threatening to kill her on April 19.
Police Headquarters said in a statement that the man was drinking alcohol at his home with his brother on April 19 when his wife questioned another man. Reports indicate that the woman remained silent, but subsequently grabbed the man by her hair and dealt severe blows to her head. He allegedly then injured her by pushing her finger in her eye and threatening to kill her.
It was noted that the woman had sought medical attention at a health center the next day and after being questioned by a nurse, reported the matter. Officers went to the suspect’s home and arrested him.
Further inquiries also revealed that the suspect injured the woman about a month ago after dealing with a cop on her hand. The probe into the matter continues.
