

A 24-year-old resident of Ann’s Grove / Clonbrook, East Coast Demerara is nursing a right hip injury at Dr CC Nicholas Hospital after being shot by a cop during an escape attempt Wednesday afternoon.
Police Headquarters stated in a statement that Conway Higgins, also known as ‘Ninja Man’, wanted a break and enter committed on a 50-year-old resident of Two Friends Village, Ann’s Grove, wounding and property damage on 37-year-old resident, also in Ann’s Grove.
Police said a mobile unit, under command of a sergeant and seven other duty guards in the Ann’s Grove area about 15: 55hrs was conducting a cordon search and search exercise when they received information that Higgins was in the area.
According to a police report, upon seeing police approaching, Higgins began running in an easterly direction; he ran the hunt ranks as he jumped several fences but was caught by one of the ranks at a ball field in Clonbrook.
Higgins allegedly pulled out a knife and proceeded toward the position, which he warned several times as he continued to advance. He then dropped the round in his direction hitting him in his right hip.
The suspect remains in police custody at the hospital while the knife is placed at Cove and John Police Station.
